Job offer

Project Manager

Delivery. Clarity. Business impact.

At Sweet Mustard, we build custom digital products that solve real business challenges.

As a Project Manager, you’re the steady point of contact for both our customers and our teams. From early validation in the sales phase to delivery, you keep an eye on scope, timing and budget, but you also look beyond the planning: you think along with the customer, challenge the approach and make sure we’re building the right thing, not just building things right.

You’re proactive, you communicate clearly, and you’re comfortable talking about numbers as well as user stories.

What you'll do

  • Lead custom software projects from early presales validation and discovery to delivery, from first workshops to go-live and beyond.
  • Translate goals and agreed scope into a concrete plan, milestones and a clear backlog together with the Product Owner and tech leads.
  • Keep budget, timing and scope under control: you forecast, follow up and act early when something drifts.
  • Proactively signal risks and dependencies, propose options and align with customer and team on the best way forward.
  • Be the day-to-day contact for the customer: you set clear expectations, share progress and make sure decisions are well understood.
  • Support and challenge the customer on business priorities and ROI, you’re not afraid to ask “why” and suggest smarter alternatives.
  • Coordinate and support multidisciplinary development teams (strategy, design, development) so they can focus on delivering value.
  • Implement and monitor delivery metrics (progress, budget, predictability, happiness) and use them to steer your projects.
  • Help shape and follow up customer roadmaps together with colleagues: from long-term product vision to short-term releases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of our way of working: processes, tooling and communication.

What we're looking for

  • Several years of experience as a Project Manager in a digital or software context.
  • A solid understanding of software development and agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban or similar).
  • Strong skills in prioritisation and refinement: you’re good at breaking down complex topics into manageable stories and milestones.
  • You’re business-savvy:
    • You understand how digital products support business goals.
    • You can discuss priorities, scope and value with stakeholders.
    • You’re comfortable with budgets and numbers: forecasting, tracking, interpreting and explaining them in a clear way.
  • A proactive mindset: you stay one step ahead, you don’t wait for problems to escalate before you act.
  • Strong communication skills:
    • You communicate clearly and respectfully with both customers and teams.
    • You adapt your message to your audience: management, business, designers, developers.
    • You’re transparent and consistent in what you agree and what you deliver.
  • Negotiation skills: you can balance constraints and still find a solution that works for both customer and team.
  • Affinity with digital products and technology, you don’t need to be a developer, but you understand the concepts.
  • You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and you like the consultancy vibe: switching between clients and sectors, with Kortrijk and the Sweet Mustard community as your base.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
  • You like the consultancy vibe: switching between clients and sectors, with Kortrijk and the Sweet Mustard community as your base.

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every single box. Your mindset, drive and willingness to grow are just as important.

What you can expect from us

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The chance to make an impact by working on challenging, innovative products and services for strong brands.
  • A team of passionate people and an inspiring talent community: ambitious professionals who aim for innovation and continuous improvement, and are happy to share knowledge.
  • A multidisciplinary environment where business, design and technology work closely together in co-creation with the client.
  • A modern office loft at De Kade in Kortrijk, away from traffic: you’ll come for the view, but stay for the colleagues, and the free lunch sandwiches. With or without sweet mustard.
  • Flexible hours and the option to work from home part of the week.

Day in the life

Agile Project Manager

I’m Michael, an Agile Project Manager, Scrum Master and Facilitator which means that I help people deliver projects and ideas. I’ve been at Sweet Mustard for a little over a year. My day starts by checking e-mails, like everyone else. Then the agile events start; daily stand-ups with the teams that I manage. From there on out my day gets a natural flow. Every stand-up provides me with questions that need to be resolved so I answer those throughout the day, handle more meetings et cetera.

The best part about my job is that I get to work with a lot of different people and teams. I make sure that we create the best software that we can, and I love testing the products at hand. The flexibility and space I get to do that, is what makes all the difference to me in my job.

They clearly put people first at Sweet Mustard which means that Mike and Lander always listen to you as a person. You’re not a number in the organisation. They want to know what you want to do, even if it’s not always possible (yet). In addition, there are the company events that they organise, like game night, a barbecue with the team, and so on, so you don’t feel like it’s all about work (all the time).

If you’re in doubt to make the jump to Sweet Mustard, I’d say: just try it! Only positive vibes here so I’m sure you’ll like it!
